Yanukovich wins race with 4%, exit-polls say

The leader of the Party of Regions of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovich has already celebrated his victory in the runoff of the presidential vote, even though the Central Election Commission of Ukraine has counted only a few percent of votes. Yanukovich leads the race with four percent difference with the number of votes obtained by teh incumbent Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko, who in her turn called upon the voters to protect their votes. Timoshenko says the race is not over and she will be waiting for the final results of the vote count by the Central Election Commission.
According to the preliminary results, Yanukovich has 49,07% of votes and Prime Minister - 45,27%.
4,49% of voters did not vote for any of the candidates.
The Ukraine`s Central Election Commission has 10 days for vote count.

The data of the National Exit-polls almost coincide with the results of the preliminary vote count. It should a 3,2% difference between the vote gained by Timoshenko and Yanukovich.  Democratic Initiative exit-polls show that Yanukovich has gained 48,7% of votes and Timoshenko- 45,5%.

5,5% of voters did not vote for any of the candidates.
