Opera Friends` Council - a new foundation was presented to media at the Tbilisi Marriot today. The goal of the foundation is to encourage and support the development and promotion of Georgian opera. One of the founders of the Opera Friends` Council is Georgian businessman Davit Kezerashvili. The foundation will provide sponsoring of Georgian opera singers` participation in various international contests; it will provide social and material assistance to the opera troupe and purchase necessary inventory for the Tbilisi opera house. Other business persons have also joined the Opera Friends` Council, who will work on the opera development action plan together. Tbilisi mayor Gigi Ugulava attended the presentation today. He was elected the honorary chairperson of the foundation.
Archaeologists have discovered remains of an ancient settlement in Georgia`s capital Tbilisi. The settlement and various items presumably date back to one thousand years B.C. Experts continue working on the spot.
