Georgia`s European Way Conference opens in Batumi

A conference titled - Georgia`s European Way - EU and its European Neighbors -was opened in Georgia`s Black Sea town of Batumi by the president today.
Representatives of the Eastern Europe Region and EU member countries - high-rank politicians - attended the meeting. Integration of Eastern European countries into the European Union was the main issue on the agenda.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said in his speech at the conference that there is no other choice for Georgia than Europe, as it is the Georgians` identity. And teh Eastern partnership has become a significant instrument for the country for approaching Europe. Saakashvili said Georgia may enjoy visa liberalization, free and comprehensive trade agreement with EU in 2013.
EPP`s president Wielfread Martens said "EU and Russia do not promote similar system of values, therefore Europe will not accept that Russia can interfere in domestic politics of a neighboring country and confiscate its independence directly - through occupation or indirectly.
Georgia`s Vice Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, Moldovan Prime Minister also addressed the participants of the conference.
