President lays wreath on memorial to fallen heroes

The president and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mikheil Saakashvili arrived today at Mukhatgverdi military cemetery to pay tribute to the memory of the soldiers killed in the Russian aggression carried out against Georgia in 2008. The president laid a wreath on teh memorial.
Georgia`s Catholicos Patriarch, Defense Minister and the head of the joint staff also arrived at the cemetery and commemorated the fallen soldiers.
The president was accompanied by the First Lady of Georgia. They offered their condolences to the families of the killed soldiers.
168 militants, 16 police officers and 188 civilians were killed in result of the Russian aggression carried out against Georgia.
The demonstration planned by the NGO Identoba, which was intended to be held on Rustaveli Avenue today, was not only disrupted, but it caused mass clashes and violent riot on Tbilisi`s central avenue. Parliament speaker has made a special announcement on behalf of the parliament regarding the violent demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue today. Davit Usupashvili called on the protestors, police and whole society to keep order and stability.
