President attended Rabat opening ceremony

Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili attended the opening ceremony of Rabat fortress in Akhaltsikhe on Thursday. Mikheil Saakashvili walked along the fortress, viewed the rehabilitated objects and talked with the crowd who watched the opening ceremony.
President also prayed in the IX century church, which was reconstructed by the restorers from ruins and returned the original face to the monument.
President delivered a speech at the ceremony and spoke about the meaning of this place. He called the Rabat Fortress the Crown of Up building and focused on all other projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the country. He said the rehabilitated fortress would attract many tourists to the regions, which will in its turn improve the social and economic conditions of the locals. Mikheil Saakashvili said Gori Fortress would be the next to be rehabilitated after Rabat.
President said there was still much to do in the country, prior of which was reduction of poverty. Mikheil Saakashvili touched the issue of tourism development too and said the reduction of poverty was the beginning phase for this. President also emphasized the role of the youth in this process, who should be next to continue the process of rehabilitation and building in the country.
The ceremony was concluded with a concert of a famous French-Armenian singer, actor and public activists, Charles Aznavour.
