Three members of Georgian Dream to face charges today
Three members of the opposition coalition Georgian Dream will face their charges today. It is expected that the investigation will be built up on the charges of vote-buying. Three members of the opposition movement were arrested by police yesterday. The detainees are - executive secretary of the Conservative Party, which is the member of the coalition, Merab Kachakhidze and two members of the Gldani district branch of the National Forum - Teimuraz Sheklashvili and Tariel Kardava. All three are suspected of vote-buying and so called `pretending bargain` worthy 1,400 GEL. The detainees were held in the police insulator in Dighomi district of Tbilisi late last night. The representatives and the lawyers of the Georgian Dream were waiting outside the police department whole night saying the detention was politically motivated.
Merab Kachakhidze was once a participant of a scandalous political story a few years ago. He attended the meeting held at one of the restaurants in Tbilisi in 2006, which was recorded with hidden cameras and where another that-time leader of the Conservative Party Koba Davitashvili was trying a person to put him in the list of candidates if he paid several thousands of dollars.
