Gay march turns into incident in Tbilisi
A peaceful rally organized by a public movement Identoba [identity], which was dedicated to the International Day Against Homophobia ended with an incident in Tbilisi today.
Over 50 participants of the demonstration were holding posters with their slogans - I Am Gay; Gay is My Friend, Homosexualism if not a disease and etc.
The demonstrators assembled at the Tbilisi concert hall on Melikishvili Street and planned to march towards the freedom Square, but at the Rustaveli Subway Station, they were hindered by the members of the Orthodox Parents` Union and some religious figures, who tried to convince them that such activities were harmful for others. Here the protestors had a clash with the members of the union; police detained three of the protestors, but released them soon.
