Successful first-year students to get funding

All first-year students who complete the first year of study successfully will be exempted from education fees for the next years as the government will fund their study, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said at the opening of the international educational Olympiad in Tbilisi today.

Representatives of 31 countries are taking part in the Olympiad for young scientists and inventors. They are expected to make presentations of teh projects in math, physics, chemistry, biology, IT and engineering fields.

Saakashvili introduced the reforms carried out in Georgia at the meeting with participants of the Olympiad today.

The president also received portraits of himself and his wife incrusted with precious stones from a foreign guest.

Representatives of the diplomatic corps in Georgia attended the opening ceremony.
When talking about the ongoing reforms in teh country Saakashvili said Russia wants to share Georgia`s experience although hey can`t do it because of the Soviet political elite existing in teh country.
