Holy Synod is against of involvement of clergymen in political activities
Holy Synod of the Apostolic Church of Georgia disapproves involvement of church servicemen in any political activities - the statement was released after the session of the Synod held at the Patriarch`s Residence yesterday.
`Church has always been the force that unifies the country and Georgia needs this function in the pre-election period most of all. Therefore, participation of clergymen in the activities of any political party is categorically unacceptable. Church is for everyone and the member of any political party is its member too,` the decision of the Holy Synod says.
The situation was calm in the regions of Ukraine in comparison with the last few days. Local militia divisions in Poltava and Khmelnitsky announced yesterday that they were moving on the side of the protestors.
President of Georgia will deliver a report to the parliament today. Giorgi Margvelashvili is expected in Kutaisi at 14:00 o`clock. The format of the report and the following procedures has been already agreed with the majority.
Prime Minister of Georgia, the chairperson of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia Party, calls on its activists, supporters and members to take part in the new phase of the party`s work, opening new offices in regions and preparation for the upcoming self-government elections. Czech Republic will no longer discuss the government of Victor Yanukovich as its partners - Lubomir Zaoralek, Czech Foreign Minister summoned the sitting of the Cabinet and made a statement regarding the Ukraine`s crisis. He said the government of Ukraine should be held responsible for the developments and violence in Kiev.
U.S. President Barack Obama has called on Ukraine`s armed forces on Wednesday to stay out of the country`s political crisis and warned that there would be consequences for those who `step over the line.`
Administration of the Patriarch of Georgia has released a special statement on the situation in Ukraine, where the number of victims has increased up to twenty-eight during the past few days` clashes and strikes between the riot police and the demonstrators.
