Holy Synod is against of involvement of clergymen in political activities

Holy Synod of the Apostolic Church of Georgia disapproves involvement of church servicemen in any political activities - the statement was released after the session of the Synod held at the Patriarch`s Residence yesterday.
`Church has always been the force that unifies the country and Georgia needs this function in the pre-election period most of all. Therefore, participation of clergymen in the activities of any political party is categorically unacceptable. Church is for everyone and the member of any political party is its member too,` the decision of the Holy Synod says.
A special delegation of European lawmakers arrives in Georgia - the representatives of several European parties. Within the two-day visit, the guests will hold meetings with civil sector, senior authorities and Georgian MPs.
