IRI, NDI to send observers to Georgia for parliamentary elections

United States government has allocated two million US dollars to sponsor the presence of international observers at the parliamentary elections in Georgia this fall. The representatives of the International Republican Institute [IRI] and National-Democratic Institute [NDI] will arrive in Georgia on July 18th, 2012 - ambassador of the United States to Georgia John Bass announced today. The observers will monitor not only the process of vote, but the pre-election campaigns as well. International observers will be sent to all regions of Georgia. Ambassador also voiced a new initiative of the U.S. government, which is going to facilitate involvement of women candidates in election process.
The amendments to the law on general courts will be enforced on May 16-17 - parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili announced at the briefing today. Speaker explained that in case the president did not sign the draft law until May 15...
