IRI, NDI to send observers to Georgia for parliamentary elections
United States government has allocated two million US dollars to sponsor the presence of international observers at the parliamentary elections in Georgia this fall. The representatives of the International Republican Institute [IRI] and National-Democratic Institute [NDI] will arrive in Georgia on July 18th, 2012 - ambassador of the United States to Georgia John Bass announced today. The observers will monitor not only the process of vote, but the pre-election campaigns as well. International observers will be sent to all regions of Georgia. Ambassador also voiced a new initiative of the U.S. government, which is going to facilitate involvement of women candidates in election process.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton is expected to arrive in Ukraine later today. The European Union has already announced that the organization will allocate 20 billion EUROs to assist the new government of the country.
Ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili arrived in Ukraine after Yanukovich was toppled down by Rada. During the hardest days for Ukraine, when about a hundred people were killed in the clashes with the police, Saakashvili could not be in Kiev as his name was in the black list by Yanukovich`s government.
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili started his three-day visit to the Unites States of America. At the beginning of the visit, Georgian Prime Minister visited newly purchased building of Georgian Embassy to the US.
The second Georgian national, who was killed in the clashes between the protestors and the police in Kiev, will be buried in Tbilisi tomorrow. Davit Kipiani`s body was transferred from Ukraine to Georgia last night. The Tbilisi government says they will cover the expenses of the burial.
